About Your Counsellor

Dawn provides integrative psychotherapy and counselling for adults, couples and young people.   She has always been passionately interested in helping people to learn to live well and become who they want to be. She has experience across a range of issues listed here and also specialises in working with the disruption and pain of relationship failure.

Dawn believes that healing is a process that we can all access and aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing you emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable.  Her integrative approach to therapy recognises that people present with many different issues and need different things from therapy. As a therapist she provides a caring and safe place to help you explore your life difficulty. Confidential, professional support in a space where you will be respected, listened to and importantly heard. A time for you to be able to re-evaluate and freely share with her what maybe causing you distress. She holds a faith that whatever it is that you share with her, something can be done about it.  She passionately believes that healing is a process that we can all access, and aims to help you deal with, and overcome issues that are causing you emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable.

Dawn can help a person work through life difficulties, make choices and find solutions.  She feels fortunate to sit alongside individuals and help them find knowledge, understanding, insight and their freedom from the weight of life problems.  This enables people to live full real lives, find joy, success, meaning and open engagement with themselves, life and interpersonal relationships.

Dawn is a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).   Prior to her counselling career she worked for the National Health Service.

In addition to Dawn’s  private counselling practice she has worked for two different counselling charity organisations. Her educational qualifications include:

Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy

Integrative Counselling FdA Degree

BA (Hons) Integrative Counselling

Certificates in Couple Counselling and working with trauma.

Dawn also holds a diploma in Physiology and Anatomy  (training in this field compliments integrative psychotherapy.  The heart of this being that that ALL levels of a person’s being, their physical, psychological, spiritual aspects, their relationships and their environment are important and should not be overlooked.)

Suppression and repression of our natural way of being (not living in a balanced way or having unfulfilled needs) can lead to many wellbeing issues.  Dawn will work with the latest human developmental insights from a wide range of theories to create deep and lasting change. Addressing your core ‘internal’ emotional roots that cause the surface ‘external’ problems brings about  ‘integrated’ healing.  This assists a person discovering new creative energy and meaning in their life which deepens self awareness, self-confidence, aliveness and capacity for pleasure.

If you have ever felt ‘stuck’ in a talking therapy it may be worth exploring the alternatives that an integrative way of working can offer.

Her Continued Professional and Personal Development has included work with Mindfulness, Sand tray therapy, Spirituality, Nutrition and Art therapy.

She looks forward to being with you.
